The Cost of Silence
An immersive art installation and film exploring women’s inner emotional worlds; what is often unspoken, unseen, and finally expressed.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month - a time to bring visibility to the inner experiences we don’t always have language for.
The Cost of Silence is a multimedia art installation and short film exploring women’s emotional and mental health experiences; what is often unseen, unspoken, and unacknowledged, and the journey from silence into expression, awareness, and reclamation.
Created by multidisciplinary artist and creative director Isabelle “Izzy” Atkinson, this project marks her first large-scale artistic work, bringing together storytelling, photography, sound, movement, and film into an immersive and deeply human experience.
Developed following a deeply painful and transformative period in her life, this project is rooted in the belief that what we carry internally deserves to be seen, felt, and shared.
Through conceptual photography and cinematic storytelling, the installation invites guests into the emotional landscape we don’t always have space to express; grief, longing, rage, resilience, and becoming.
